Strengthening governance and regulatory frameworks in global football.

AGENDA

fifa

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) stands at the helm of the world’s most influential sport, shaping not only competition, but global culture, economics, and diplomacy. Yet, with this unmatched influence comes sustained scrutiny. At DSMUN, the FIFA committee turns to a pressing concern: strengthening governance and regulatory frameworks in global football. Amid recurring allegations of corruption, vague decision-making, and inconsistent enforcement of financial regulations, the credibility of football’s governing institutions continues to be tested. As the sport expands commercially and geographically, the stakes have grown significantly. The increasing flow of capital, the rise of private ownership models, and the widening gap between elite and grassroots football raise critical concerns regarding fairness, transparency, and sustainability. Regulatory bodies are now challenged to balance growth with integrity, ensuring that the game remains both competitive and accountable. This committee demands decisive and reform-oriented deliberation. Delegates must critically assess existing governance mechanisms, identify structural shortcomings, and propose methods that enhance transparency, enforce accountability, and restore trust with the ultimate goal of safeguarding the integrity and future of global football. Here at DSMUN 2026, delegates will engage in reform-driven deliberation, confronting systemic inefficiencies and political complexities within global football governance. From financial fair play to independent oversight and equitable revenue distribution, the committee must explore actionable solutions that restore trust and credibility. The challenge is clear: can football’s governing structures evolve to match its global influence, or will the integrity of the game continue to be compromised by the very systems meant to protect it?
