Establishing Soviet Hegemony with a special emphasis on the expansion of the Soviet Sphere of Influence.
AGENDA
The Politburo (USSR)
The Politburo Crisis Committee of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is convened at a decisive moment in history, placing delegates within the apex of Soviet authority. Operating under a freeze date, this committee simulates the inner circle where ideology and strategy converge to determine the trajectory of a global superpower. With the agenda centred on establishing Soviet hegemony, with particular emphasis on expanding the Soviet sphere of influence, delegates are tasked with reinforcing the USSR’s dominance in an increasingly polarized international system. In a landscape defined by ideological confrontation and strategic rivalry, influence must be carefully constructed through political alignment, economic instruments, and calibrated military presence. Delegates must engage with the challenges of consolidating authority over allied states, extending influence into contested regions, and countering the advances of rival powers, while ensuring internal stability and ideological consistency. This year at DSMUN’26 the committee demands calculated ambition and strategic discipline. Delegates are expected to formulate directives, both overt and covert, that strengthen Soviet authority, expand its global reach, and secure its position at the forefront of international power, all within the constraints and realities of the time.
