
DSMUN OVER the years

DSMUN 2024
The 17th edition of The Doon School Model United Nations conference was held from the 18th to the 20th of August on campus. Across 8 committee sessions in 11 different committees saw the participation of over 400 delegates from around 40 schools from around the country. 300 students from The Doon School were involved in some capacity, all aiding in the smooth running of the conference. The conference was centred around the theme ‘Musings of a divided world, solutions of a united one’: the problems and crises of the world can only be solved by the united effort of all the nations of the world, and is the only way to complete safety and peace. The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Shishir Priyadarshi, an ex-dosco and also the ex-director of the World Trade Organisation. The chief guest for the closing session was Ms. Ruchira Kamboj, who served as the President of the United Nations Security Council, and provided great insight to the students and delegates.

DSMUN 2023
The 16th edition of The Doon School Model United Nations conference was held on campus from the 17th to the 19th of August, 2023. There were 11 committees with 7 committee sessions and DSMUN'23 featured the participation of around 400 delegates from all over the country. Around 200 students from the B to SC forms were involved in the conference. The conference was centred around the theme "Where Perspectives Converge, Solutions Emerge": We believe the world is a confluence of varied perspectives and conflicting ideologies. Therefore, finding common ground between opinions is imperative to pave the way toward everlasting peace. The Chief Guest for the opening ceremony was Mr. Rohan Chand Thakur, an ex-Dosco and an IAS officer of the 2009 batch from the Himachal Pradesh cadre. The Chief Guest for the closing ceremony was Mr. Ovais Sarmad. Mr. Sarmad served as the Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat, advising on a range of issues relating to the strategic operations planning and development of the organisation.

DSMUN 2022
We hosted the 15th edition of the Doon School Model United Nations Conference virtually, from the 18th of August to the 20th of August, 2022. The 15th edition saw the participation of around 300 delegates from all across the country. The conference was centred around the theme “Libertas Securitas Justitia”: Several unanticipated global crises have occurred in recent years, resulting in a dramatic increase in the frequency of conflicts. The year's theme aimed to emphasise the fact that order and peace are more important than ever before in today's world. Prem Shankar Jha was the Chief Guest for the opening ceremony of the conference. Mr. Jha is a journalist, writer, and economist of international fame. The Chief Guest for the closing ceremony was Dr. Aftab Seth. Dr. Seth has a doctorate in Law. He was India’s ambassador to Japan, Micronesia, Vietnam, and Greece. That year we saw participation from more than 350 delegates from across the country.

DSMUN 2021
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing crisis, The Doon School believed that the world is constantly evolving, and therefore, we must adapt to our ever-changing surroundings. For this reason, we decided to centre the 14th edition of DSMUN on the theme: “A World in Motion'”. Regardless of the obstacles posed by the countless draconian lockdowns, mankind has made impressive strides in the fields of healthcare, international diplomacy, and space exploration. The conference hosted more than 300 delegates. The conference in 2021 aimed to introduce delegates to the various issues that progression brings, from environmental degradation to humanitarian crises, through committees based on past, present, and future scenarios. The Chief Guest for the opening ceremony was Dr. Jagpreet Singh. He is currently the Headmaster of The Doon School, Dehradun and the Chairman of IPSS. The Chief Guest for the closing ceremony was Shri. Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo. He is an Indian politician who was a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Bolangir.
