United Nations Human RIGHTS council

Agenda: Yemen Civil war and humanitarian crisis

The Human Rights Council is one of the premier decision making bodies across the world, responsible for several crucial decisions and resolutions for international humanitarian issues across the past few decades.  The last few years haven’t been kind to humanity, and there has been a very alarming rise in human rights crises across the globe. In light of that, picking an agenda which holds a certain relevance in the past while having importance in the present was certainly a tough ordeal. However, after much contemplation, the Yemen Civil War gave us a platform for both discourse and introspection. The agenda does justice to the intensity required to be a delegate of the UNHRC and makes for a great topic of contemplation even after the conference is over.

I am very excited to serve as the Chairperson for the United Nations Human Rights Council - a platform for growth and change due to its correspondence with global issues and diplomacy.

I currently study in the 12th grade and I’m currently pursuing the International Baccalaureate Diploma. I have a great interest in the field of chemistry and physics. I’m passionate about music, debating, reading and writing. I’m also interested in basketball and football.

I look forward to seeing you all actively participate in the conference and take away some fruitful experiences from what the Executive Board has planned.

Committee Director

Veer Nigam

I am proud to serve as the Committee Director for the United Nations Human Rights Committee - a committee, which according to me, challenges delegates to combine creative diplomacy with a high level of rationality and morality relevant to world politics.
I am presently in the 12th grade and am pursuing the ISC curriculum. I have a keen interest in the field of Economics, and am extremely passionate about music, design, and reading, alongside an occasional penchant for writing. In my spare time, I either frequently find myself playing the sitar, or playing a sport on the field.
Having said that, I would like to convey how important it is for both the Chairperson as well as myself to ensure that the environment of the committee is conducive for a successful result. I eagerly look forward to working with all committee members and to a time jam-packed with intense debate and discourse. Feel free to reach out to me for any questions or recommendations you may have.
